“As an active investor in many areas of the arts around Australia I see our culture as unique and strong, so I would like us to be immersed, totally surrounded and celebrating our cultural roots and visions as much as possible. The Seed is an invaluable asset for the fusion of investment with remote and emerging artists around Australia. It’s important that new voices get into the music industry rather than be overwhelmed by it’s power, and I see The Seed as a very real tool to make this happen”

"When Danielle and I first started the fund we always intended for it to grow into something that wasn’t just funded by ourselves but contributed to by many movers and shakers within the Australian music community.

It’s an indication of the maturity of the Australian music industry when artist initiatives like The Seed and the Hilltop Hoods’ SA hip hop grants emerge to make a difference. The Seed is my sort of project — it tries to make some impact on current social culture, it opens up visions for up and comers, and it reaches out to those artists from indigenous and remote communities who need it the most. And I believe in The Seed because Danielle and John are a quietly achieving power couple who’ve been giving back to their folks for a long time. It’s always good to make mistakes on your journey, but I wish something like the JB Seed had been around when I started out in this wonderful madness — Christie Eliezer, music industry columnist, Pollstar, Billboard
